Blogging is very rewarding, because it allows you to connect with people all over the world, but reading a blog post is not enough to grow anymore. If you were to read my blog, it would help increase my views, which would get it in front of more people, but it doesn’t end there because there is so much more to growing a blog. Before blogging became popular it was much easier to grow your site because all you had to do was write a few posts and it would generate thousands of views. Now, since everyone has figured out that you can make an income from a blog, there is more competition than there ever used to be. Bloggers who have been online for a decade have a little bit more of an advantage than people who started last week, because you had the opportunity to grow your site before it became popular. I think a lot of people want to support their favorite creators, but may not know or think it’s going to cost them a bunch of money. How do you support your favorite creators? In this post, I am going to share easy ways you can support your favorite bloggers that won’t cost you any money.
Share their post- If you read a blog post that you thought was great, the best thing you can do is share it with your followers because sharing posts boosts a website’s SEO, which will increase your DA score. The higher your DA is, the higher it will rank in Google, and more people will see it. People sometimes think that growth is all about your follower count, but actually, your follower count doesn’t matter that much because your website can’t grow without shares. Sharing is one of the best ways you can support your favorite creators, and it will not cost you any money.
Like or comment on a post- People sometimes judge the success of a blog by the amount of views and followers they have, but it’s not about the number of followers, and you want people to engage. Engagement is so important because when a post has a lot of engagement, it increases the reach and visibility of your brand, and social platforms tend to show it to more people when it has tons of likes. When a post has a lot of engagement, people tend to be curious, and posts that have more engagement tend to get more views than those that have none. Please engage with posts you enjoyed because it helps creators out tremendously. I love it when people like or comment on my blog or social media because connecting with my audience is one of the best parts of blogging! Make sure that you are not spamming someone’s site by liking posts at rapid fire that you didn’t read, because that can hurt a blog.
Do not plagiarize- Plagiarism is unfortunately a huge problem in the blogging world because people sometimes are too lazy to create their own posts, so they figure they would copy and paste someone else’s work. Bloggers spend hours creating content that they think their readers will love, and there is nothing more frustrating than when you create something you are proud of and someone takes credit for it. Sharing is caring, but copying and pasting content and using it as a Facebook status without properly crediting the author is not sharing, and that is plagiarism. Please don’t plagiarize because, although I am flattered that you think my work is so good that you must claim it as your own, it is frowned upon and usually will result in you being blocked. It is almost impossible to completely stop people from plagiarizing content because, although you might be able to stop one person from stealing content, it will be someone else tomorrow. You can help bloggers catch plagiarizers by letting us know when you read something that sounds like stolen content, because I don’t know a single person who will be okay with their content being stolen. Please don’t plagiarize content, whether you are a blogger or not, because I don’t care how well I know you; it’s not okay to plagiarize.
Be kind- I blog to share my opinions about disability, and I don’t blog to try to convince you that my opinion is the right one, and I am only sharing my opinion. It is okay if you disagree with someone online, but you don’t have to be rude in the comment section, and if you can’t be nice, then say nothing at all. People sometimes are going to be more rude online than they ever would be in real life and there is nothing you can do to completely stop trolls, but you can make sure you aren’t one of them. Be kind because you never know how your comments will affect someone, and you can disagree with someone and be civil. A little kindness can go a long way, and if you can’t be nice, just keep scrolling!
There is so much more to growing a blog than there was ten years ago, and in order for bloggers to make a name for themselves, they need to work hard and get support from their audience. It is not hard to support a blogger, and it can be quite simple because sometimes all you need to do is tell us that the last post we wrote was great. You can’t expect us to know how you feel about our blogs if you never tell us, because sometimes bloggers are harder on themselves than their readers will ever be, and need a little encouragement to keep going. You never know what someone is going through based on what you see on social media because people don’t always give you the full picture. My job as a blogger is to constantly promote my blog and get more followers, but I can’t do it alone and need support from my audience. You will never become the next big influencer without a team of people helping you get noticed. How do you support your favorite blogger?
