What To Get A Blogger For Christmas

Christmas is approaching quickly, which means a lot of us have started to think about what we are going to give our loved ones for Christmas. If you have a blogger on your Christmas list, sometimes people who don’t blog struggle to find a gift for them because they don’t know what a blogger would want or need. Many bloggers live and breathe their blogs, and some of the best gifts are things we can use to grow our content, because although you don’t need a bunch of equipment to blog, you do need to invest a little to make money. Blogging can be a very cheap hobby, but it can be a very expensive hobby if you want to make money. Most bloggers make very little money from their blogs and can’t afford a bunch of fancy blogging equipment, which can be frustrating because sometimes you need more equipment to level up your content. It can be a good idea to gift a blogger something that they can use to grow their blogs, because a lot of the time, we can’t afford it and have to make the best of what we do have. What can you get a blogger for Christmas that they will love? In this post, I am going to share a few gift ideas that you can give a blogger that we will actually use.

Free hosting– Some bloggers write for fun and would not need money for a host because not everyone pays for their blog, but every blogger needs a website host, and without one, there is no blog. Some people do not pay for their blogs, but if you are serious about making your blog a career, you might want to invest in it because free blogs scream amateur. Hosting prices vary on each platform, but it can be expensive and cost a blogger three hundred dollars or more, depending on whether you want to be self-hosted, which can be a tough bill to pay when your blog does not make any money. Hosting is a great gift idea for bloggers because some people want to upgrade their blogs but don’t have the funds to do so, and gifting someone a year of free hosting will give bloggers the ability to do that. I would ask bloggers if they would want money towards free hosting, because not all bloggers will need it. Free hosting would not be a good gift idea for me personally because my blog is paid until the end of June, and that would be a better early birthday present than a Christmas gift. Hosting can be expensive and is a great gift idea for bloggers because even if you can’t pay for someone’s blog entirely a little bit helps.

Subscription to Canva– Some bloggers use images in blog posts because blogs that have images get more views than those without any. In my opinion, finding a nice-looking photo is more difficult than writing the blog post itself, since you can’t just go on Google and download any image, because you could be taking a photo that you don’t have the rights to use and have to pay a bunch of fines, which no one wants to do. I, along with many other bloggers, use Canva, which is a graphic design website that allows you to create images for your blog or social media without worrying about getting into any legal trouble. Canva is free to use, but there is a paid option that gives you access to more images that you can use for your blog. I use the free version of Canva, and it works fine for me, but it can be a great gift idea for bloggers because it gives you more options.

Selfie stick– Some bloggers only write and do not take photos, and wouldn’t want a selfie stick, but there are a lot of bloggers who also film video content on top of writing blog posts because it helps get their blog more views. All of my long-form content is written on my blog, but I do try to create reels for my social media weekly, which can be difficult without a selfie stick because I am one person and don’t have any other team members who can do that for me. I was gifted a selfie stick a few years ago and use it all the time because it makes it easier for me to create video content that is visually appealing to readers which is so important for growth. Selfie sticks are a very inexpensive item, and it is a great stocking stuffer for bloggers because it makes it so much easier for bloggers to take photos independently that actually look good. Selfie sticks are a must-have for bloggers who also like to create podcasts and video content. If I didn’t have a selfie stick, I would not be able to create video content as effectively as I am now.

Blogging books/ courses-There is so much information about how to grow your blog online that sometimes it can feel overwhelming because you never know who to believe. Bloggers who are trying to make money off their blogs sometimes get frustrated because they think they are doing everything right but their blog isn’t growing and could benefit from a blogging course. I think that gifting a blogger a book or a course about blogging from an expert is a great idea because it teaches you what you might be doing wrong so you can fix it. If you are going to gift a blogger a book or course make sure that it’s from a reputable source because there is so much bad blogging advice online. I have one blogging book that I got last year for Christmas, that I occasionally read and have learned so much from it. There is so much to learn about blogging because, despite popular belief, it does not end with writing blog posts, and sometimes you need to take a course or read a book.

A new computer/tablet– A computer or tablet is a very expensive item, but it is necessary to be able to blog because everyone needs a device to blog on. If you know a blogger who does not have access to a computer, tablet, or cellphone, it might be a good idea to gift them one if you can, because we can’t do our jobs without it. Technology can sometimes be frustrating for bloggers because it doesn’t last forever, and you can’t always afford to get a new one. I do not currently need a computer or tablet for Christmas because both of my devices work fine, but if my computer were to die, which is my preferred device, I would not be able to afford to buy a new one because I don’t make enough money and would be forced to blog on a device I don’t like.

Subscription to Grammarly- Blogs do not need to have perfect grammar like a college essay would, but every blogger should be checking their posts for grammatical errors to make it easier to understand. Grammar is not one of my strengths because when I was in school, I was not taught it very well and was told it was not important. Grammarly is a great tool for bloggers to have because it can help catch mistakes you missed, and it is essential for me since I am not good at grammar. I use the free version of Grammarly, and it works great for me, but there is a paid version that will correct your work on a much deeper level, which you could gift to a blogger.

If you are struggling to find the perfect gift for a blogger a good place to start might be to think about what they might need for the blogs. You can build a successful blog with minimal equipment and not everyone is going to need the same type of blogging equipment because people who started blogging last week are going to need less than someone who has been blogging for years. These are a few gift ideas that bloggers will love but most of the things I have mentioned I currently own and do not need. Bloggers will always appreciate gifts that will help them grow their blogs but not every gift has to be for our content because we have other hobbies outside of blogging. I love getting gifts that can help me grow my content because I spend most of my spare time blogging and can’t afford expensive blogging equipment but I don’t expect people to know what I would need to be able to do my job. I hope I helped give you a few gift ideas for bloggers but if you have any other ideas please let me know in the comment section. What are gifting a blogger for Christmas?
