Blogging Goals To Make In The New Year

In the New Year, a lot of people make new goals for themselves, which I think is important because goals help us grow, and without challenges, there is no change. As a disabled blogger, I think it is super important for both new and veteran bloggers to have goals for themselves because it can help you see your progress and motivate you to keep going. If you don’t have blogging goals, it is easy to get overly consumed with stats and start comparing yourself to other people who have larger followings which can distract from being able to focus on what really matters. There are a lot of different types of blogging goals, and some people may have bigger goals than others because it depends on where you are in your blogging journey. You don’t need to have huge blogging goals to grow your brand because simple and small goals can make big changes. What are some blogging goals that you can make in the New Year? In this post, I am going to share a few easy blogging goals you can set for yourself in the New Year.

Start a blog- Some people want to start a blog and maybe have been thinking about it for a while but often drag their feet about it because they don’t know how or are waiting for the perfect time. There is no perfect time to start a blog, and if you continue to wait for the perfect time, you will never start one. Start a blog if you have been thinking about it, and stop worrying about creating the perfect post because it does not exist. Your first post will not be your best, and you will make mistakes because it takes time and practice to build a successful blog, and that is okay. In the beginning, you don’t need to have big blogging goals, and your goal can be as simple as starting one, because you’ll never get anywhere until you start. Stop waiting and just do it because the first step to building a successful brand is getting over the fear of starting a blog.

Be consistent- Consistency is important for bloggers because you can’t expect your blog to grow if you haven’t posted in years. A good blogging goal to make if you have struggled to be consistent with your blog is to commit to posting more regularly, because showing up is the first step to building a successful blog. Consistency is going to look different for everyone, and it does not mean you have to blog every single day because not everyone has the time for that. I think it is important for bloggers to create a schedule that works for them, whether that is once a week or once a month, because consistency helps make blogging a habit and builds trust with your readers. As a disabled blogger, I don’t have to make consistency my blogging goal because I am consistent, but if you struggle with that, I think it’s a great place to start.

Make more quality content– When it comes to blogging, sometimes creators are in a rush and write something that isn’t that great because they need to get one out. When I started blogging, I didn’t think about the quality of posts too much because I thought the goal was to get as many posts out as possible, and it is important to get a lot of posts on your blog, but you should be focusing on quality over quantity. Make your blogging goal to stop making posts that you are not super proud of because your readers deserve that. In the past, I have created posts that I didn’t like that I ended up deleting later, and my goal for this year is to focus more on the quality of my posts and to only share things that I am proud of, because you are not helping yourself by creating posts that you are embarrassed to read and delete later. I do not typically create goals to get a specific number of posts out anymore, and I mainly focus on creating better posts that people want to read because that is what builds a successful blog, and a lot of the time, in order to do that, you have to write less often.

Engage with your audience– Many bloggers are very consistent with creating new posts, but when it comes to engaging with their audience, a lot of the time, it’s not as much of a priority, and people ignore comments. I love writing new blog posts, but I love engaging with my audience even more because a huge part of building a blog comes down to connecting with your audience. If you are a blogger and have not been very responsive to comments or haven’t commented on other blogs, a good goal to make for yourself is to commit to being more engaging with your readers because people are less inclined to visit a blog that doesn’t respond to comments. Engagement plays a major role in building a successful blog, and I think all bloggers should strive for better engagement because it’s not all about follower count and the algorithm tends to push content that gets a lot of engagement.

Stop comparing yourself to others- If you are a new blogger, it is easy to fall into the comparison trap and start comparing your content to someone who has way more experience. When I started blogging, I struggled to see my own progress because I was constantly comparing myself to other creators who were better writers and more experienced, and I didn’t start to see change until I stopped doing that. It is easy to get jealous of other creators who have larger following counts, and I think everyone can benefit from not comparing themselves to others because all that does is make you feel bad about yourself. In the New Year, you should commit to not comparing yourself to others because you will be a happier blogger when you focus on improving your content, instead you could write like someone else.

Be authentic- There are a lot of honest creators who do great work but unfortunately, not all content creators care about authenticity and do whatever it takes to get views even if that means being a little dishonest. I think authenticity is so important for content creators because it builds trust with your readers and attracts the right kinds of people. I think that committing to being more real and authentic is a great blogging goal because sometimes we get so consumed with our views that we become desperate for views and will do whatever it takes to increase our views. Authenticity will build a blog more quickly than lying ever will because people would rather read something that they know is true.

Blogging goals are so important because it helps you see your progress and motivates you to continue to challenge yourself There are a lot of different types of blogging goals you can make, and you don’t need huge goals because the most important thing is to figure out what you want to improve. As a disabled blogger, I have never made a goal to reach a specific number of followers because the number of followers you have is not super important and does not necessarily mean you are more successful. In the New Year, I hope to grow my blog even more than I did last year but my main goal is to create better posts rather than more of them. What are your blogging goals for the New Year? Make blogging goals for yourself but be realistic because goals that are too extreme often lead to quitting. If you liked this post, please leave a comment below and share it with your friends.
